Ohio has joined the long list of cannabis-friendly states by offering medical marijuana to patients with a wide variety of conditions. However, while it’s relatively easy to secure high-quality medical cannabis, you still have a couple steps to make that happen.
If you have a qualifying disease or physical condition, you need to know how to get a medical marijuana card in Ohio. Fortunately, we’re about to outline the process step by step.
How to Get a Medical Card in Ohio
The Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program (OMMCP) is in charge of dispensing medical cards in the state. Fortunately, you just have to follow a relatively simple three-step process to get an Ohio medical marijuana card:
First, you need to visit a recommending physician. Your doctor must be able to confirm one of many different diseases and conditions that can help you qualify for a card. Examples include chronic pain, PTSD, cancer, and many more.
Next, you have to submit your payment through the Patient & Caregiver Registry website ohiomedicalmarijuanaregistry.com. Once your approved, you can start buying at dispensaries like The Citizen by Klutch.
How Much Does it Cost to Get a Medical Card in Ohio?
The cost varies by physician. It can range from $50 – $300 for the year.
When submitting your payment to the State, you’ll have to pay $50 to the OMMCP. You’ll also have to pay the same amount each year when applying for your Ohio medical marijuana card renewal.
That said, if you’re a caregiver buying medical marijuana for a patient, you only have to pay $25, both upfront and during the renewal process.
