When Will Ohio Recreational Cannabis Be Available?

On November 7th, 2023, Issue 2 to legalize the recreational sales and use of cannabis in Ohio passed. As of December 7th, 2023, possession of small amounts of cannabis and personal cultivation is lawful.

While this is undeniably welcome news, it does come with a bit of a disappointing caveat: dispensaries likely won’t be able to sell recreational cannabis in OH until late 2024. Unfortunately, it will take some time to get all the new rules for the adult-use program in place and work out any disagreements about the program between state lawmakers.
